Welcome to Chiddingfold Cricket Club, this letter gives you an introduction to the Cricket Club, its teams, the cost of membership and how it is run.
CCC runs three adult teams, the 1sts, 2nds and a Sunday side. The 1sts play in the I’Anson division two on Saturdays and a mid-week evening 20/20 competition. The 2nds play in I’Anson division four, also on Saturdays. The Sunday XI plays friendlies throughout the season. Running these three teams allows it to cater for a wide range of cricketing abilities.
Since 2010 the Club has run a colts section. U7, U9, U11, U13 and U15 age groups train on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings and play matches through the early part of the season.
Facilities and Ground
Home matches are played at the Club’s Woodside Road ground. The Club has recently made substantial investment into its facilities including a refurbished pavilion, new ground equipment, sight screens and soon the ground’s drainage will be improved.
The Club has a practice net and bowling machine, both are available to members to use at their discretion. To use the machine please ask the captains for a key to the pavilion and a lesson on how to use it.
Committee and Club Constitution
CCC is run by a committee of about 10 volunteers; the Club does not have any employees. Our AGM is held in January to appoint the Committee who meet monthly to manage and run the Club’s affairs. Included on the website is a list of Committee members and the constitution. The Club always encourages people to get involved, please let the committee know if you want to volunteer, coach (the Club will pay for you to become ECB qualified to level II), assist with ground preparation or organise a social event.
To play more than three matches players need to be Members. Memberships to CCC are annual and we have about 35 adult and 100 junior members.
Adult subscriptions are £75 but are tapered based on the number of games played – 0-3 matches no subs, 4-6 matches half subs and 7+ matches full subs. Match fees are £10 a game and £5 for students/U18.
Colts subscriptions are £45. Parents of junior members are automatically enrolled as non-playing members of the Club.
It’s the member’s responsibility to make sure they do not leave the Club out of pocket. Please make sure you pay any subs and match fees promptly.
The Club runs social and fund raising events throughout the year. The main ones being the end of year Awards Night held on the final day of the season and the Dinner Dance which is a black tie event held in late autumn. The Club enjoys the considerable support of local sponsors including our Club sponsors The Crown Inn and most teams can be found post match enjoying a drink in there. Hamptons International generously sponsors our Junior section.
Over the August bank holiday the Club plays an annual fixture against Glusburn CC, a Yorkshire club similar to CCC. These matches have been running since the 1970’s and alternate home and away.
